Talking Mental Health in Animation on ABC Bay Area
I was recently invited to be a guest on ABC Bay Area to talk about mental-health awareness in the animation industry and share the story behind my award-winning animated short, Little t. It was such an inspiring conversation about creativity, vulnerability, and how the stories we tell on screen can help us heal off screen.
Animation is a medium built on imagination, but also long hours, perfectionism, and invisible emotional labor. Artists often struggle with self-doubt, burnout, and imposter syndrome, feelings that can silence our creative voice.
In Little t, I explored what happens when that inner voice - the inner critic - grows too loud. The film turns that struggle into a visual metaphor, reminding us that we can thank that critic for trying to protect us… and then gently let it go.
