Stitching the Missing Verse: My Feature in The Hollywood Times

I’m honored to be featured in The Hollywood Times in an article titled “Stitching the Missing Verse: Masha Ellsworth Connects Folklore, Animation, and Memory.” The feature explores my creative process behind Bound, an animated short inspired by the Ukrainian folk song “Несе Галя Воду” (Nese Galya Vodu) — a story of love and misunderstanding that has been sung for generations.

Through cross-stitch-inspired visuals, Bound reimagines this timeless melody as a modern reflection on relationships, handled in a lighthearted yet deeply real way. I wanted to share a story that captures both the humor and heartbreak of connection while introducing a wider audience to the Ukrainian culture I was fortunate to grow up in.

The process became deeply personal, as I collaborated with my father, a classically trained architect, to design the world of the film. Together, we wove art, memory, and heritage into every frame : a reminder that the stories we inherit can keep evolving, thread by thread, across generations.
